Recording Tips:
  • Keep video under 60 seconds, no longer than 90 seconds.
  • Have fun! People like to watch videos that are engaging. We want them to watch the entire message, so the more fun you can have with it the more likely people are to keep watching.
  • Wear Badger gear. We want this video to shout Badger Pride, so your outfit and background matter!
  • Make sure your ending is a good lead in to the DOTB recap video that will follow your segment. We want them to know the next part they’re watching is a recap of the entire day.
Additional Tips:
  • You can record directly to ThankView on your desktop or mobile device.
Make sure to film horizontally so you fill the frame.
  • Consider shooting in a location your recipients may recognize.
  • Choose a location that provides balanced lighting. Try to find a room that has a lot of natural light.
Video Talking Points:
  1. Introduce yourself: “Hello, my name is Nicole Weir and I’m part of the Annual Giving Team at Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association.”
  2. Tell them why they’re getting this video: “I’m reaching out today to say thank you for supporting the annual fund on Day of the Badger.”
  3. Tell them what their gift is doing or how it’s making an impact: “Your gift to support the annual fund is helping all the students who walk the halls in *your unit*. You’re helping support XXX, XXX and XXX.”
  4. Thank them: “Thank you so much for all of your support and choosing *unit name* on Day of the Badger!”
